Yoshimitsu Awataguchi, also known as "Toushirou", was a swordsmith who excelled in making Tanto (a type of katana) and was active in Yamashiro Province during the middle of the Kamakura period. Many of his works bear the name "Toushirou". His masterpieces include national treasures such as "Atsutoshi Toushirou" and "Gotou Toushirou". His works have been highly valued since ancient times and were treasured by powerful figures such as Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and Ieyasu Tokugawa.
