Description

Katana Name: Fukyo (風狂)

The Fukyo katana, meaning "madness" or "craziness" in Japanese, draws inspiration from the legendary Japanese monk Ikkyu 一休. Known for his unorthodox behaviors, drinking, eating meat, marrying, and carrying a skull etc (many violation of monk’s code of conduct). Ikkyu defied societal norms to reveal deeper truths about spiritual freedom and Zen. His "mad monk" reputation and vibrant life remind us that true Zen was about spiritual freedom, not conformity.

Many of us live an ordinary daily life, at some point we might also need a bit of craziness to understand what is truly live a life, this is what we hope this katana will bring you.

Blade

The blade is double bohi spring steel, this katana is very sharp, ideal for practice. Its blade produces a satisfying sound when swinging, and the spring steel is resilient, designed to bend and return to shape, making it both safe and durable. Even beginners will find it a reliable choice for effective cutting.

The sharpness of this katana is equal to the "Razor Sharp" level in our Custom Katana.

The Sharpness of this katana is a key feature, hence we don't plan to sell a dull edge version of it.

Saya

Finished in Nashijinuri (梨子地塗, means pear skin texture)  style with gold and black powders over an orange base, the saya reflects the colors of traditional Japanese monk robes—orange and black.

Habaki

Decorated with a lotus design, the habaki honors the lotus as an essential Buddhist symbol of purity and enlightenment.

Tsuba

This high-quality alloy tsuba features a Sukashi-style (透鍔) design adorned with the Manji symbols of Buddha, emphasizing protection and spiritual strength.

Menuki

The menuki design features bamboo, a tribute to the monks who traditionally use bamboo canes as support.

Tsuka

Hishigami wrapping with panel real rayskin Samegawa, the green silk ito is tightly bound for a secure, comfortable grip.
