What is Ashikanamono in Japanese Katana terminology?
Ashikanamono refers to the metal fittings used to pass the Obitori (belt holder) when suspending the ""Tachi"" (long sword) from the waist. By using a pair of ""Ichi no Ashi"" and ""Ni no Ashi"", it is possible to balance and secure the ""Tachi-Obi"" (sword belt) and ""Saya"" (scabbard) wrapped around the waist. It is also referred to as ""Ashigane"" or ""Ashi"".
