村正 Muramasa School

What is Muramasa school in Japanese Katana terminology

Muramasa was a school of swordsmiths active from the Muromachi period to the early Edo period in Kuwana District, Ise Province (now Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture). A legend was born that the Tokugawa family avoided Muramasa's swords because they were involved in many misfortunes that occurred around Tokugawa Ieyasu. As a result, they became known as "Cursed Swords Muramasa."
