What is Nuguigami in Japanese Katana terminology?

"拭紙" or "Nuguigami" translates to "Wiping Paper" in English. It is a type of paper made from high-quality "奉書紙" (Houshogami), which is softened by kneading. This paper is used to wipe off dust, polishing powder, and clove oil from the blade of a sword. In modern times, it can also be substituted with fine fiber tissue paper. If a cloth is used as a substitute, it is referred to as a "Wiping Cloth".
