"Wakimono" refers to swords made in regions other than the five areas of "Gokaden", which include Yamashiro-den, Yamato-den, Bizen-den, Soshu-den, and Mino-den. Notable swordsmiths of Wakimono include Gou Yoshihiro from Etchu Province (now Toyama Prefecture), who is one of the "Three Great Swordsmiths", and Ohara Yasutsuna from Hoki Province (now Tottori Prefecture), who is the creator of the national treasure "Dojigiri Yasutsuna".
