What is Yamashiro-den In Japanese Katana terminology

"Yamashiro-den" is one of the "Gokaden", a traditional method of sword making that developed in what is now Kyoto Prefecture, following the late Heian period. Due to the high demand from the imperial court and nobility, many of its works are highly valued for their artistic qualities. Notable swordsmiths include the Sanjo school, led by Kuniyasu, the Awataguchi school, developed by the "Awataguchi Six Brothers" with Kuniie as the founder, the Rai school, including Rai Kunitoshi, and the Hasebe school, represented by Kunishige.
