Katō Kiyomasa was a general at the Sengoku period. He was a famous architect, took part in the building of many great castle, including Kumamoto-jō, Edo-jō and Nagoya-jō. He was also a pious Buddhist, built many temples, including the famous Honmyoji Temple. He devoted his royalty to Toyotomi Hideyoshi till his death.
