Received defective / wrong item

Product Upgrade 20240328: The samegawa of this sword has been upgraded to real ray skin
*The traditional Clay Tempering method was used on this blade*
Clay tempering method is to apply clay on the spine of the blade, and mainly tempering the edge. This results a hardened edge and softened spine, makes it ideal for cutting.
*Above we illustrate the general process of clay tempering, each sword design might use different Hamon line design / tempering technique.

Exceeded my expectations! Beautiful sword. The Kashira, Tsuka, Tsuba, and Habaki are all solid and tight. The Tsuka ito, and Sageo is also tight. The Hamon is beautiful and the blade is sharp. It came very well packaged and the blade was oiled in a protective sleeve. Could not be happier.

This is my first purchase from Romance of Men and I have to say I am blown away by the quality of this katana. From the blade, fittings, saya, fit and finish I highly recommend. I have purchased from many different companies when it comes to the katana and Romance of Men gets so much right that many other companies often miss the mark on.

I’m quite fond of the blade, it’s light and has nice even grind lines. The Hamon is attractive. Polish is acceptable, especially at this price. I liked the simple tsuba well enough. I’m glad it’s not a tacky casting. Saya is well done. The tsuka is ok. Not great. But for the price, I’m fine. I actually bought this just for the blade, I’ll be redoing the tsuka myself with better fittings.
