What is Cotton Armor (Menou kou / Men'ōchū)
of Samurai Armor
This is a type of Chinese-style armor that was mass-produced during the Nara period for general soldiers. It was easy to make, lightweight, and inexpensive. It was made by attaching small plates of leather or iron to a coat-shaped cloth, providing high defense against swords and spears, and excellent cold protection.
