熊手 Kumade

What is Kumade of Samurai Armor?

"Kumade" is a long-handled weapon that has been in use since the late Heian period. The curved claws at the end of the long handle resemble a bear's paw, hence the name. It was used as a weapon in siege warfare and naval battles to pull enemy ships closer or to hook and pull down enemies.
