鳩尾板 Kyubinoita

What is Kyubinoita of Samurai Armor

This is a vertically long iron plate used to protect the left side of the chest armor (Do). It functions like a small shield. It is attached by tying it to the ""Takahimo"" (high string) that connects the front and back of the armor on the left side. It was designed to prevent the left side of the body from being exposed to the enemy when drawing a bow.
