What is Mabisashi of Samurai Armor?

The term "Mabisashi" refers to a metal fitting that is set up on the front of the helmet bowl (Kabuto Hachi). It serves to protect the forehead and also to shield against raindrops and sunlight. Its history is old, and decorative large Mabisashi can be confirmed on helmet bowls excavated from ancient burial mounds.
