前立挙 Front Raising or Maetateage

What is Maetateage of Samurai Armor?

This refers to the part composed of small armor plates located at the upper part of the front body (below the chest plate and above the line of the side plates or the long side). In the great armor, body wrap, belly wrap, and belly guard, it is generally composed of two stages, while in the modern armor (Tousei Gusoku), it is composed of three stages.
