采配付の鐶 Saihaizuke no Kan

What is Saihaizuke no Kan of Samurai Armor

This is a metal ring located on the cuirass (Do) of the modern armor (Tousei Gusoku), often on the right chest. It is used to tie the cord of the ""Saihai"", a tool used by the general to command troops on the battlefield. The Saihai is made by bundling thinly cut paper and attaching a tassel and a handle made of wood or bamboo. Later, the ""Tenugui-zuke no Kan"" (a ring for attaching a hand towel) appeared, and the two together are called Ryochi no Kan.
