What is Waidate of Samurai Armor?

This is a piece of armor that covers the large gap on the right side of the Do of the Oyoroi. The O-Yoroi has a gap on the right side for putting on and taking off, and this is to prevent attacks to this area. under the Waidate, a set of Kusazuri is attached.
