総角 Agemaki or Sokaku

What is Agemak of Samurai Armor

This is a cord tied in a Tombo Jumonji knot, attached to the back of the O-yoroi or Do-maru armor, and the rear part of the helmet. It is tied to the Koshokan at the back of the helmet (kabuto), the Sakaita of the O-yoroi, the Ushirodateage of the Do-maru (part of the contemporary armor), and the Kan on the back plate of the Haramaki. It is brightly colored and has a tassel. The ""Agemaki"" attached to the back of the Do is not only decorative, but also has a function to improve arm movement when connected with the sleeve cord.
