菱縫板 Diamond Stitched Plate or Hishinui no Ita

What is Hishinui no Ita of Samurai Armor?

This is a plate decorated with diamond stitching (Hishinui) using the hole of the lower binding (Shitagarami) of the plate at the bottom of the Shikoro (neck guard), Kusazuri (skirt), Sode (sleeve), and Sendan-no-ita . Although it was often omitted in the modern armor (Tousei Gusoku) made in the Azuchi-Momoyama period and the early Edo period, it was revived as the armor became a symbol of the samurai's dignity.
