陣羽織 Jinbaori

What is Jinbaori of Samurai Armor?

"Jinbaori" is a haori (a traditional Japanese jacket) that was worn over armor. It got its name because it was used in military camps. Initially, it was used as a cold protection gear on the battlefield and had sleeves, but later, sleeveless versions became more common as they were more suitable for battle. It was used by samurai from the end of the Muromachi period to the end of the Edo period.
