喉輪 Neck Ring or Nodowa

What is Nodowa of Samurai Armor?

This is a piece of armor that protects the area from the throat to the chest. It is made by attaching two stages of small armor plates (Kozane Ita) to a crescent-shaped metal fitting called "Tsukigata", using a bat-attached leather (Koumorizukegawa). It has been used since the Nanboku-cho period, and it was not used much by the end of the Muromachi period when the modern armor (Tousei Gusoku) face cheek (Menpo) started to have a tare.
