肩上 Shoulder Top  or Wadakami

What is Wadakami of Samurai Armor?

This is the part that hits both shoulders when wearing the body (armor). In the great armor (Ooyoroi) and body wrap (Doumaru), it was cut out of leather continuously with the ""Pressing Plate"" (Oshitsuke-no-ita), but from the body wrap onwards, it is attached to the ""Pressing Plate"", which is a type of metal fitting (Kanagu mawari). It is said to have been called ""Wadakami"" due to a corruption of ""Katagami"", and it is also written as ""Cotton Bite"", ""Shoulder Bite"", ""Cotton Top"", etc.
