大袖 O sode

What is O sode of Samurai Armor
This is a type of sode. It is a large, flat sleeve that is square with all right angles, attached to O-yoroi, Do-maru, and Haramaki. The shoulder armor (Kata yoroi) used in the Kofun period is the origin of the sleeve. It is a piece of armor that covers from the shoulder part of the armor to the elbow, protecting the upper arm. It functioned as a shield against flying arrows. It is made of 6-7 tiers of small plates, with the left sleeve called ""Imuke"" and the right sleeve called ""Mete"".
