What is E gawa in Samurai Armor

This refers to deer leather dyed with patterns such as lions, peonies, and Fudo Myoo in indigo and red. It is used in various parts of the armor, including the Mabisashi and fukigaeshi of the helmet (kabuto), the shoulder (Wadakami) and chest plates of the chest armor (Do), the leather for string running (Tsurubashiri no Kawa), the bat fittings (Komorizuke), and the surface of the metal fittings.
